How to Sign Into Your Meeting

Please make sure that you have all of your appointment-related medical documents with you prior to the start of the appointment. Your doctor will have access to your the George Washington University Hospital medical record and Emergency Department medical chart during your visit, but they may not have access to specific documents that were given to you when you were sent home from the Emergency Department.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment on a PC Computer

  1. Approximately 15 minutes prior to your appointment, using the emailed link that was sent to you when you scheduled your appointment, sign into the secure video conference line through which your appointment will take place. One of our WECC Operators will enter the meeting and get you “checked-in” to your appointment. This process is our equivalent of the standard instructions to arrive at your doctor’s office 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and sign in.
  2. You can join a Lync meeting from your PC computer without having a Lync account. Please follow these instructions to join a Lync meeting from your PC computer. When prompted to create an account or join as a guest, choose join as a guest and put in your first initial and last name in the “name” field. If you are having trouble establishing the video connection, our WECC Operators are available by telephone to walk you through the set-up process.
  3. Once you are successfully entered into the meeting, you will be in the virtual waiting room. You may be the only person in the meeting at this point in time; this is the equivalent of being brought into the exam room and waiting until the doctor arrives.
  4. One of our Emergency Medicine providers will enter the online video conference appointment and begin your appointment.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment on a Mac Computer

  1. How to Prepare for Your Appointment on an iPad

  1.   2. You can join a Lync meeting from your iPad without having a Lync account. You must be connected to a wireless internet connection for the duration of your video appointment or Lync will not allow video on an iPad. Please follow these instructions to join a Lync meeting from your iPad as a guest. When prompted to create an account or join as a guest, choose join as a guest and put in your first initial and last name in the “name” field. If you are having trouble establishing the video connection, our WECC Operators are available by telephone to walk you through the set-up process.

  2. When you click the link you will be prompted to download Microsoft Lync from the Play Store if you do not already have the application installed on your Android device. Microsoft Lync is free from the Play Store. Once Microsoft Lync is downloaded, go back to the email and click the link to the online video conference. Microsoft Lync will open automatically and you will be prompted to sign in as a guest. After signing in as a guest, you will be entered into the meeting. If you are having trouble establishing the video connection, our WECC Operators are available by telephone to walk you through the set-up process.
  3. Once you are successfully entered into the meeting, you will be in the virtual waiting room. You may be the only person in the meeting at this point in time; this is the equivalent of being brought into the exam room and waiting until the doctor arrives.
