Repairing ACL Injuries

Are you undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery? The rehabilitation timeline for ACL repairs can be lengthy. It's our goal to help you return to your favorite activities quickly and safely. Our team of physicians and physical therapists at the ACL Rehabilitation Program will work with you to create a treatment plan that's focused on regaining your range of motion, strength, and agility, to get you back to doing the activities you love.

Phases of Rehabilitation

The three phases of rehabilitation are:

1. Prehabilitation (Prior to Surgery)

  • Visit(s) with physician/surgeon regarding surgery expectations and post-operative instructions
  • Visit(s) with your physical therapist to address early range of motion or strength limitations and to set expectations for the rehabilitation process

2. Surgical Recovery

  • Restoring full range of motion and strength
  • Normalize walking patterns

3. Return to Sport

  • Jogging/running progression
  • Agility and plyometric progression
  • Focus on sport or activity specific tasks
