Professor of Medicine and Director of the GW Advanced Pulmonary Hypertension Program

Dr. Mardi Gomberg is an internationally recognized leader in the field of pulmonary hypertension. She spent 12 years as Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program at the University of Chicago. "A highly respected leader in the development and testing of new pulmonary hypertension medications, she served as Chair of the Pulmonary Hypertension Counsel and was recently elected to the Board of Governors for the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation and leads the Education Committee of Pulmonary Hypertension Association Scientific Leadership Council

Dr Gomberg has been a member of multiple steering committees for national and international pulmonary hypertension drug trials and serves as a consultant to both the FDA and the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. She recently participated as a member of the 2018 World Symposium for Pulmonary Hypertension as a senior member of the ‘New Drugs and Trial Designs’ task force. She serves as an Associate Editor for multiple major medical journals including CHEST and the European Respiratory Journal, and is the Editor of the pulmonary hypertension section for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. She has participated in over 45 clinical trials and has over 120 publications and 10 book chapters. She is a highly sought after international speaker on new developments in the field of pulmonary hypertension.

Dr. Gomberg has established a comprehensive pulmonary hypertension program at the George Washington University Medical Center. Her pulmonary hypertension team includes Jalil Ahari, MD from the GW MFA Pulmonary Medicine Division. She is available for patient consultation and treatment including access to both new and investigational treatments.
