Cherie Q. Marfori, MD, FACOG, specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) and completed GW’s first post-graduate fellowship in MIGS under the tutelage of Dr. James Robinson. She is a team member of The GW Fibroid and Menstrual Disorders Center and The GW Pelvic Floor Center.

Dr. Marfori enjoys taking care of women with problems across the entire gynecologic spectrum including fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, abnormal pap smears, pelvic pain, Asherman’s syndrome, symptomatic menopause and pelvic organ prolapse. She also is proud to be able to offer her patients the availability and expertise of in-office: flexible and rigid hysteroscopy, ultrasound, ESSURE© placement, endometrial ablation, colposcopy and LEEP procedures in addition to laparoscopic, robotic and hysteroscopic surgeries in the OR setting.

Dr. Marfori has helped pioneer innovative ways to perform procedures as common as hysterectomy and became one of the first Washington-area physicians to perform single-incision laparoscopic hysterectomy. She is also interested in incorporating robotics into laparoscopic surgery to improve patient outcomes and shorten recovery.

Dr. Marfori was an undergraduate at Wake Forest University and completed her medical degree at The University of Virginia. She went on to complete her OB/GYN residency at The University of Massachusetts. Dr. Marfori has presented clinical research projects at national meetings of The American College of OB/GYN (ACOG), American Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL). She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of ACOG.
