Elizabeth Pocock, MD, is a cardiac surgeon at The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) and an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Pocock is board certified in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She also holds a variety of other certifications including, but not limited to: fundamentals of laparoscopic surgery; advanced surgical skills for exposure in trauma; and advanced trauma operative management.
Prior to joining GW Hospital, she completed a three year fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Heart Institute. Before that, she was a general surgery resident at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She holds a medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Pocock has held a variety of positions and honors, including most recently being a member of the Baylor College of Medicine Medical Student Mentoring Program. She is also currently a member of the Association of Academic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. In addition, she has completed numerous presentations and publications related to her field, as well as assisting with two grants.
