Newborn Services
Pampering you and your newborn
At The GW women's center, we strive to create a birth environment of warmth, comfort, assurance and encouragement. Our labor and delivery suites offer you beautiful amenities, including all private rooms and bathrooms. The birth setting may be intimate and private, or openly shared with your family, significant partner or other support person(s).
It is our belief that a family-centered approach to childbirth can help promote the healthy growth and development of the entire family. The Women's Center respects your birth plan and is proud of a long tradition of reaching out and serving a wide range of contemporary family structures. Your loved ones will be welcomed and encouraged to participate in your childbirth experience.
Always There, Always Prepared
Miraculous as it may be, childbearing can present certain complications. But whether it's a Cesarean birth, premature infant, or in-vitro pregnancy, The Women's Center offers the clinical expertise needed for your peace of mind.
The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is an advanced facility equipped to treat premature infants and term newborns who have infections. Should complications occur during your delivery, a staff of qualified caregivers comprising board certified, fellowship-trained physicians; registered nurses; lactation consultants and technicians are available 24 hours a day to respond to any special needs you may have.
The NICU provides care for high-risk neonates including:
- Noninvasive nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
- Mechanical ventilation, including high frequency oscillation
- Nitric oxide inhalation therapy
