'I chose GW Hospital because I wanted my baby to have a chance.'

Lamika Hines had a history of miscarriage and high-risk pregnancies. Hines had been told she shouldn’t have more children and was surprised when she became pregnant. “Before I went to GW, I felt afraid,” Hines recalls. “I was terrified.”

Her obstetrician at GW, Scott M Petersen, MD, FACOG, was there to support her every step of the way to the successful, natural delivery of her youngest child, Caden. “He was more than just a doctor to me,” Hines says of Dr. Petersen. “He was like my friend, my confidant and my therapist too.”
