Physician Biography
Paul P. Lin, MD, Chief of General Surgery at George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) and Vice Chairman of the Department of Surgery at George Washington University Medical Center since 2003, has practiced general surgery at The George Washington University Hospital since 1995. Dr. Lin sits on a number of medical committees, and served as a member of the Medical Faculty Associates' Board of Trustees. He serves as director of both the bariatric surgery and pancreas and hepatobiliary surgery programs, the program director for the general surgery residency program and is an assistant professor of general surgery and surgical oncology at GW Hospital.

After obtaining his medical degree from Harvard University Medical School, Dr. Lin completed his residency in general surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. While at Johns Hopkins, he completed a fellowship in surgical oncology. In addition, he served as a registrar in surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital at Oxford University in England.

Highly respected for his surgical, research and teaching skills, Dr. Lin has been honored with many prestigious awards for his work. He is a five-time recipient of the "Paul Adkins Faculty Teaching Award", presented by The George Washington University's Department of Surgery, and a two-time recipient of the "Top Doctor Award" from Washingtonian Magazine. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Lin is well known for his numerous lectures and innovative, didactic approach. He has delivered presentations to the Ground Rounds in the anesthesia, medicine, surgery and psychiatry departments and has been featured in a number of television interviews.
