The George Washington University Hospital “Gives Back” This Holiday Season
WASHINGTON, DC (Dec. 12, 2012) — When The George Washington University Hospital staff came together a few weeks ago to discuss giving opportunities during the holidays, employees expressed a strong interest in giving back to the DC community. They decided to collect food, clothing and toiletries for Food & Friends and Miriam’s Kitchen this holiday season.
“The holiday season is a joyous occasion and it should be shared with others, and help those who are in need,” stated Barry Wolfman, CEO and Managing Director for GW Hospital. “Our hope was to have our employees experience the true spirit of the holidays.”
From now through Friday December 21, GW Hospital is collecting food, clothing and toiletries in collection boxes placed in the Hospital Main Lobby, the Ambulatory Surgery Center at 2120 L St., NW and 2131 K St., NW.
In addition, GW Hospital has arranged for 20 volunteers, including its Management team to prepare meals at Food & Friends on Wednesday, Dec. 19. GW Hospital has named the effort “This Meal Brought to You by GW Hospital.”
“We spend a lot of time at work together as an employee, as a department, and as a hospital. However, by being able to give back this way, gives us a sense of community and pride,” said Kimberly Russo, Chief Operating Officer at GW Hospital. “We know these are tough times so many of us just wanted to help and make a difference during this holiday season.”
All your donations are very much appreciated and valued and will enable both Food & Friends and Miriam’s Kitchen better meet the needs of our DC Community.
