Lisa TompkinsGift ShopThe Women's Board opened the District's first hospital gift shop in the main lobby of the hospital in 1948. Since then, it has been an instant hit among the patients, their families and friends. The shop sells essential items such as toothpaste, greeting cards, and gifts including baby clothing and birthday/anniversary presents. It also has a vending machine for sodas and snacks.
For 54 years, the shop was run by a manager and staffed by volunteers. However, in October 2002, a contract was entered into with Lori's Hospital Gift Shops, a subsidiary of Hallmark, to manage the shop with a guaranteed monthly stipend to The Women's Board.

Spiritual Care Program
The Women's Board launched a chaplaincy program in Spring 2000 to attend to the humane and spiritual needs of patients, family members and staff.
Seminarians from various divinity schools around the area provide the basis of our hospital ministry staff. Community clergy from many different faiths serve as our emergency staff during peak critical times. Our pastoral staff is made up of Catholic, Presbyterian, Muslim, Methodist, Jewish, Jehovah Witnesses and Episcopalian faiths.
Today, the Women's Board offers a Spiritual Care Residency program, whereby theology professionals seeking to expand their educational experience in hospital chaplaincy can apply, and those selected are awarded stipends in exchange for their efforts working in the hospital's Spiritual Care Program. Applications are currently available. See the Women's Board Home Page for additional information. Contact: Lisa Tompkins.
