Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs Recognized for Quality Service and Practice Excellence The George Washington University Hospital's Acute Rehabilitation Unit has earned accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its inpatient programs in Adult Inpatient Rehab and Stroke Specialty Programs. The three-year accreditation extends through December 2010.
CARF Accreditation involves a rigorous peer-review process in order to demonstrate that hospitals conform to CARF standards. By pursuing and achieving accreditation, GW Hospital indicates that its programs and services are of the highest caliber, are measurable, and accountable. This achievement indicates the dedication and commitment made by GW Hospital to improve the quality of the lives of those served. The accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded.
"The whole team should be commended for their hard work preparing for the survey. We're very proud of this achievement," said Meggan Johnson, PT, Director of Rehab Services at GW Hospital.
GW Hospital has been accredited for its many strengths and exemplary conformance with CARF standards, including the following statement (from the Survey Report): "Leadership at all levels of the organization [GW Hospital], including corporate, hospital, and program, is committed to the delivery of quality services to the persons served."
