GW Fibroid and Menstrual Disorder Center

Are your fibroids still causing you problems?

Together we'll find the best treatment for you.

Whether you've had multiple prior surgeries, are overweight, or have very large fibroids, there is an answer. A hysterectomy may not be your only option. You may qualify for a less invasive procedure to treat your fibroids.

The George Washington University Hospital Fibroid and Menstrual Disorder Center will review your case with you and discuss your options.

Comprising a team of gynecologic surgeons, high-risk obstetricians, oncologists, and interventional radiologists, doctors at The GW Hospital Fibroid and Menstrual Disorder Center are committed to helping you make an informed decision on a treatment plan that is right for you.

What Are Uterine Fibroids?
Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that develop in the muscular wall of the uterus. Learn about fibroids, their risk factors and symptoms.

Detection and Diagnosis
Usually, it's your doctor who finds fibroids during a routine physical examination. Learn which tests can confirm the size and general location of fibroids.

Treatment Options

Through the use of minimally invasive treatments of fibroids and other uterine surgeries, patients are able to go home on the day of surgery or the following morning with far less pain and a much faster recovery.

Treatment for Heavy Periods
Some minimally invasive treatments for abnormal uterine bleeding can be performed in the doctor's office or as an outpatient to get you back to your life quickly.
