The Women's Heart Center

70169Understanding your risk of the #1 killer is important. Doing something about it is essential.

The Women’s Heart Center is committed to educating women about prevention and management of heart disease. Understanding your risk profile is the first step to taking control of your heart health. Prevention is the key to cardiovascular wellness whether a woman is healthy, suffers from high blood pressure or diabetes or has experienced a heart attack. Exercise and nutrition experts can use that knowledge to tailor a program to help you lower your overall risk of heart disease.

Consultative Services
The Women’s Heart Center offers a comprehensive range of consultative services including evaluation, treatment and referral for testing through Cardiology Associates, PC. The Center sees both self-referred and physician-referred patients. Medicare and most insurance plans are accepted.

Exercise and Nutrition Services
Imagine a medication with a side effect that decreases your dress size and gives you more energy! That’s what can happen with better nutrition and an active lifestyle. Many women don’t understand how easy it can be to reduce cardiac risk, enhance overall health and maintain a healthy weight with simple lifestyle changes. Studies show that most heart disease is preventable through diet and behavior modification.

The Women’s Heart Center provides referrals to exercise and nutritional counseling that can lower your risk of heart disease and assist in the control of high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. A program can be tailored to motivate you and meet your needs. Individual counseling consultations provide nutritional and exercise assessment, treatment, evaluation and support.

What is a Heart Report Card?
You can receive a Heart Report Card based on your answers to a questionnaire detailing your health habits and medical history. As part of the Heart Report Card, the following are measured:

  • Blood pressure
  • Fasting total cholesterol
  • LDL & HDL cholesterol
  • Triglycerides
  • Glucose
  • Height, weight and waist circumference
  • Body mass index
The results of these tests will help determine your risk of heart attack and stroke. This also aids in the diagnosis of hypertension, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and cholesterol disorders. Then, you will discuss the results and recommendations for risk reduction with a trained member of the Women’s Heart Center staff.

Cost
The cost of the Heart Report Card is $60. Payment is accepted at the time of the visit. The cost is not covered by insurance.
