Director, Total Joint Replacement Center
James H. Graeter, MD, is Director of The George Washington University Hospital Joint Replacement Center. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and specializes in minimally and limited incision hip and knee replacements. He has over 25 years of joint replacement experience in the Washington, DC area.
Dr. Graeter graduated from Georgetown University and received his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in California and surgical and orthopaedic surgical residencies at Wadsworth VA Hospital and The George Washington University Hospital. His commitment to GW extends into academic life, serving as a professor of orthopaedic surgery. In addition, Dr. Graeter has served as a board examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
He is a member of the Washington Orthopaedic Society, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, board member of the D.C. Metropolitan Chapter of The Arthritis Foundation, and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. For The George Washington University Hospital, Dr. Graeter has served on the Executive Committee, Transfusion Committee, and Consumer Advisory Council for Acute Rehabilitation Unit. His many accomplishments also include publication in The Journal of Arthroplasty.
