Bennett, MD, clinical director of the Women’s Heart Program at the George Washington University Cardiovascular Center, has been a Clinical Assistant Professor of Cardiology since 1997. A member of Cardiology Associates P.C., Bennett is currently serving as medical spokesperson for The Heart Truth/Red Dress Project, a national awareness campaign on women and heart disease.
Bennett’s other professional appointments include the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association’s Greater Washington Region, The American College of Cardiology, and the American Society of Echocardiography. Her contributions include a recent article published on the “Effect of Metroprolol on Absolute Myocardial Blood Flow in Patients with Heart Failure” for the American Journal of Cardiology. Bennett has also devoted much of her time to ensure that women are included in cardiology research trials and recently spoke on the importance of women’s heart health at the Science and Leadership Symposium for Women with Heart Disease.
A graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School, Bennett completed her residency at Barnes Hospital Department of Medicine. She has served fellowships at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maryland Medical System, both in the division of Cardiology.
