Thyroid Cancer

The thyroid gland makes hormones that control many of the body's functions, including: heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature and weight. There are more than 33,000 new cases diagnosed annually (according to the National Cancer Institute) but thyroid cancer generally is one of the least deadly cancers. According to the American Cancer Society, two-thirds of the people diagnosed with thyroid cancer are between the ages of 20 and 55.
