Jennifer M. Kirby, RN, MSN, CNAA, BC joined George Washington University Hospital as Chief Nursing Officer on May 3, 2010. She has over 30 years' experience as a successful healthcare clinician, educator and executive from a wide range of settings, including academic medical centers, acute care hospitals, clinical office experience and the military.
Previously Jennifer served as the interim Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hospital in southern Illinois, where she implemented a roundtable to address patient satisfaction strategies and worked to improve patient throughput. She has held executive leadership positions at several hospitals including Vice President of Patient Care Services at Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore and Senior Operating Officer/Vice President of Patient Care Services at Georgetown University Hospital. Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio State University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University in Chicago.
A Lieutenant Colonel in the Delaware Air National Guard Nurse Corps, Jennifer has experience in patient service and in leadership roles in the U.S. military. She worked as a deputy command surgeon in the United States Air Force and directed medical operations in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Bahrain that supported over 10,000 US military personnel.
Jennifer is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society for nurses, and has been a featured speaker at nursing and military conferences.
